The YWCA of the Mohawk Valley uses a collaborative team approach working with the assistance of local law enforcement to insure that sexual crimes committed against children are investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
The child advocacy center provides a comprehensive, culturally competent multidisciplinary team response to allegations of child abuse. In order to promote a sense of safety and consistency for the child and family, the team approach to allegations of child abuse includes forensic interviews, medical evaluations, theraputic intervention, victim support/advocacy, case review and case tracking. All services are free and confidential and are provided in a child friendly, home-like atmosphere. The YWCA of the Mohawk Valley is the lead agency for the child advocacy center of Herkimer County.
