Housing Willow Commons

Willow Commons is a transitional housing shelter for homeless victims of domestic violence.  Created in partnership with Housing Visions Unlimited, Inc., Willow Commons is not only a housing facility, it provides a wide array of on-site supportive services and referrals to a myriad of providers.  Some of the services provided are Mental Health & Domestic Violence Services, Case Management, Life Skills, Women's Health, and Employment/Job Development. 

The Willow Commons Complex provides a total of 15 apartments at five sites in close proximity to one another in Utica, NY.  There are eight 3-bedroom, four 2-bedroom and three 1-bedroom apartments within Willow Commons.  This transitional housing complex opened in the late spring of 2006.  Upon leaving the transitional housing unit, individuals will have access to a wide variety of services to ensure they will be able to live on their own.

In order to enroll in the transitional housing program the following eligibility requirements must be met:

  • residents must be at least 18 years of age
  • Classified as homeless (as defined by HUD)
  • Meet income guidelines
  • Have some means of income (public assistance, SSI and SSD are acceptable.)

The transistional housing complex was made possible by the Utica-Oneida County Continuum of Care, which recieved Homeless Assistance funding from HUD.
