Eliminating Racism Empowering Women

The YWCA has been providing support and advocacy to victims of sexual and domestic violence for over thirty years. In 1977 a 24-hour hotline was set up to address the issue of domestic violence in Oneida County. The hotline has provided crisis intervention and safety awareness to thousands of individuals seeking alternatives to violence in their home.

The agency has the only residential programs and the only court advocate program dedicated to domestic violence in Oneida County. The YWCA also operates the only victim service program for sexual abuse and severe child physical abuse cases at their child advocacy center. Services in Herkimer County can be accessed through a 24-hour hotline.



The YWCA co-chairs the Domestic Violence Sexual Violence Coalition of Oneida County, established in 1992, addressing the complexities of domestic and sexual violence.
