YWCA Mohawk Valley Hosts Virtual Salute to Outstanding Women Reveal


Eight Local Women to be Honored at April Awards Ceremony

UTICA, N.Y. (March 25, 2021) – YWCA Mohawk Valley (YWCA MV) premiered their virtual Reveal of the 2020-2021 Salute to Outstanding Women (Salute) honorees today, Thursday, March 25.

Salute honors eight local women for their achievements and impact on the community. YWCA MV postponed both Reveal and the Salute celebration luncheon events last spring due to concerns about the COVID-19 outbreak.

 

The outstanding women selected in 2020 will finally be recognized in 2021, making them the first-ever dual-year class of honorees.
In the category of:

Education, sponsored by Kristin’s Fund, the honoree is Meredith Madden, Ph.D.

Entrepreneur, sponsored by Staffworks, the honoree is Ari Gaeta.

Healthcare, sponsored by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, the honoree is Shannon Cayea.

Human & Public Service, sponsored by Scalzo, Zogby & Wittig, Inc., the honoree is Stephanie Dulak-Eghigian.

Outstanding Youth, sponsored by Adorino Construction, Inc., the honoree is Maria Htoo.

Professions/Business & Industry, sponsored by Bank of Utica, the honoree is Laura Powers.

Social Justice, sponsored by Fort Schuyler Club, the honoree is Dawn Carter Laguerre.

STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math), sponsored by Indium Corporation, the honoree is Maria Smith.

The 32nd annual Salute to Outstanding Women Awards will be held at noon on Thursday, April 22, 2021. Tickets are $33.50 and can be purchased by visiting ywcamv.org/Salute. The luncheon celebration is typically held in-person but will be hosted in a virtual format this year. Salute also serves as YWCA MV’s largest annual fundraiser.

Salute is presented by Baird Private Wealth Management. The virtual Reveal ceremony honorary sponsor was Valentino’s Banquet Hall.  Salute media sponsors are Lite 98.7 FM, El Zorro Radio Latino 98.3 FM, and WKTV NewsChannel2.
