YWCA Mohawk Valley is a certified provider of domestic and sexual violence crisis services by New York State. We are certified in both residential and non-residential settings. Our services are always confidential, free, and provided regardless of when the abuse occurred or if it was reported.

Our Services Include:

  • Emergency shelter and safe housing for survivors and families fleeing domestic violence
  • Individual counseling
  • Support groups for adult survivors of domestic violence
  • Safety planning
  • Survivor advocacy and accompaniment in medical, legal, and law enforcement procedures
  • Information and referrals to outside services (including social services, housing, employment assistance, etc.)
  • Assistance with crime victim compensation
  • Prevention education and outreach initiatives
  • Assistance with crime victim compensation procedures through the Office of Victim Services (OVS)

Domestic violence is a pattern of coercive, controlling behavior that can include physical abuse, emotional or psychological abuse, sexual abuse or financial abuse (using money and financial tools to exert control). Domestic violence is a pervasive, life-threatening crime that affects millions of individuals across the United States regardless of age, economic status, race, religion or education.
