What is the 21 Day Racial Equity & Social Justice Challenge?
YWCA MV has joined forces with YWCA Greater Cleveland to bring this national challenge to our community! It is designed to help participants create dedicated time and space to build more effective social justice habits, particularly dealing with issues of race, power, privilege, and leadership.
You will be presented with tasks such as reading an article, listening to a podcast, reflecting on personal experience, and more. Participation in an activities like these helps us to discover how racial inequity and social injustice impact our community, to connect with one another, and to identify ways to dismantle racism and other forms of discrimination.
This is an exciting opportunity to dive deep into racial equity and social justice. We hope you will join us and dozens of sister YWCAs on this journey! We can’t wait to get started.
The 21-Day Equity Challenge was created by Dr. Eddie Moore Jr. (#BlackMind) and co-developed with Debby Irving, and Dr. Marguerite Penick (#DiverseSolutions).
The plan has been adopted by organizations, associations, and corporations all over the world. Dr. Eddie Moore Jr. is the Director of the Privilege Institute in Green Bay, WI. Dr. Moore created the Challenge to not only help people better understand issues surrounding equity, inclusion, privilege, leadership, and supremacy, but also to do so in a way that would build a habit of learning by stretching it over 21 days. We are excited to be offering you this 21-Day Challenge in partnership with Dr. Moore. As you engage in the various activities over the next 21 days, be sure to tag, comment, and follow 21-Day Racial Equity Habit Building Challenge on Facebook.
We are excited to start the 2021 21 Day Challenge for Racial Equity and Social Justice, launching Monday, March 1st! It will run Monday through Friday, ending on March 29th. We hope that you will go into this challenge with an open heart and an open mind, ready to be pushed out of your comfort zone. We know these discussions can be difficult and can bring up powerful emotions, but your commitment to increasing your awareness is what will help move our community forward.
